Urgencies

What is meant by dental urgency?

When we talk about dental urgency we mean a problem that comes on suddenly and needs to be treated as soon as possible.

Some examples of situations that require a emergency response by the dentist can be:

  • sudden sharp pain in the teeth
  • breakage of a prosthesis or tooth
  • abnormal swelling of the gums (with or without pain)
  • trauma to the teeth (e.g. a chipped tooth)
  • sudden bleedings

These are some of the causes, but urgent situations can be different.
